How are you all doing? I am doing alright, a bit tired from a busy week of rotations but I am looking forward to this 3-day weekend. I plan on catching up on sleep, netflix and add some studying to the mix. Now that I am back to rotations, I don't have that much time to sew but I have a few DIY projects I finished during my winter break including a new bold coat that I shared a peek HERE. Stay tuned!
Today's post features a dress I made for the 1st Sunday/Thanksgiving Sunday at church. I used a reversible jacquard butterfly print fabric that I got from Joann's Fabrics and have had in my stash for over 2 years.
I combined 2 different patterns to achieve this look. I used McCalls 7832 view B for the bodice and cut a size 12 with a D cup. For the skirt portion I used Burda 6370 view A and cut a size 12. When combining 2 different patterns like I did for this dress, it's important to make sure the measurement for the joining section (i. e the waist in my case) matches. I also played with the reversible detail of the fabric so the bodice and ballon bell portion are the same side while the upper sleeves and skirt portion is the other side. I eliminated the elastic wrist of the ballon sleeves cos my fabric was too thick to add the detail like the pattern instruction calls for. The bodice of my dress is also lined but not the skirt. I like the way it turned and of course my favorite part about this dress is probably the butterfly print, just in case you don't know I am obsessed with anything butterflies. The ballon bell sleeves also adds a cool detail to this simple midi pencil dress, and I love it...:)
For styling, I simply paired it with belt to cinch my waist and a pair of black pumps.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
