How are you all doing? Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I sure did, in between work and studying. I didn't sew at all cos I just did not have the time. Anyways, onto this outfit I wore for Thanksgiving Sunday last week to church. I got a yard of remnant lace fabric from Joann's Fabrics and Crafts Store a while ago and I had been looking for what to do with it. If you are familiar with the way Nigerian sewists make ankara pieces, they always add embellishments, lace details, sheer fabrics to spice up the ankara pieces, so that inspired me to try something new and add the lace fabric while making this ankara dress. This dress was the most complicated thing that I have made till date and it took about 2 weeks to completely finish this dress. I used THIS Vogue pattern to cut the pieces and lining fabric, it was so complicated and I almost gave up several times but I did it. I personally felt like the instructions that came with the pattern for the lining part were not clear enough so I basically had to break everything and dissect it so that I could understand it. Once I finished the dress, I loved the added lace details and the lining just made the skater part so structured and it just looked amazing. I styled it by adding a belt to clinch my waist and completed the look with a pair of lace pumps. I am looking forward to seeing your thoughts on the dress...:)
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!
