I hope you all are having a lovely week so far? Today's post features one of the favorite dresses I have even made since I started sewing. I made it with a beautiful Guipure lace (aka Venetian Lace)  in purple. I wore it to the Thanksgiving service at my church last Sunday. I styled it with a bold printed clutch and a pair of floral printed lace up sandals. For those that sew, check out the pattern review below...:) What do you guys think of this dress?
Pattern Review: Burda 6890
Pattern Description: Sheath dress with sleeveless, 3/4 sleeve or long sleeve option.
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size 8-20 and I cut a size 12.
Fabric Used: Purple Guipure Lace and Satin fabric my mom got from Nigeria.
Did it look like the photo on the pattern envelope once you are done sewing with it? Yes, somewhat.
Were the instructions easy to follow? I did not follow the instructions, I just glance at it once and it looked easy to understand even though I have heard Burda Patterns are not the easiest to understand for a beginner.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the simplicity of the dress plus there was only 3 pieces to cut and sew, therefore it didn't take forever to finish.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? I didn't add a linning like the pattern required, I first hemmed the satin fabric then attached it to the lace fabric using basting stitches before adding the darts and sewing the pieces together. I finished the neckline using a single fold bias tape and the back hem with an invisible zipper.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes! This will be my go-to sheath dress pattern since it fits nicely and only takes a couple of hours to sew. I would definitely recommend it to others, I really love this pattern.
Thank you so much for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your week!
