I hope you all are having a lovely week so far. I am just dropping by real quick to share my birthday dress that I made for the first time ever. The fabric I choose was from Vlisco's Voila for You which is full of bold prints and colors. It only took about 2 days to make the dress in between work and studying and I absolutely love the final result. For those that sew, I have a pattern review below. Off to work, so I will talk to y'all later...:)
Pattern Review: Butterick 6129
Pattern Description: Dress has semi-fitted, lined bodice with side front and side back seams, skirt and off-sleeve variations, and back zipper.
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size 6-14 and I cut a size 12.
Fabric Used: Voila for You by Vlisco (HERE)
Did it look like the photo on the pattern envelope once you are done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, they were very easy to follow.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the off-shoulder detail and the pleated skirt but the arms fits very tight plus the bodice kinda gapes in the back. If I were to sew it next time, I will cut the sleeve bigger and remove about 2inches from the back seam before installing a zipper.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? The only change was to finish my hemline with horse hair braid to add volume and structure to the skirt.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I doubt it, but never say never right...lol. I would recommend it if you like a nice dress with off-shoulder detail.
Thank you so much for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your week!
That's a lovely dress, and look!

This has to be my favourite of your ankara creations so far. The dress looks amazing on you, you nailed the fit and the pattern is lovely. Your braids are lovely as well, I wish you had put your braids up though.
