How are you all doing? I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Today's post features my latest DIY piece: a camel waterfall jacket perfect for the upcoming spring season. I absolutely love the way it turned out and because it's in a neutral shade I can wear it with a lot of things. For this look I paired it with an all black outfit with a pop of leopard print in my shoes. I actually wore the look to work today and my co-worker love the jacket they couldn't believe I made it. For more behind the scenes look and sneak peek of my DIY pieces, follow me on Snapchat (@rallydfashfan) I share a lot of my sewing process on it. For my fellow sewists, there is a pattern review below...:)
What do you guys think of my camel waterfall jacket?
Pattern Review: Butterick 6244
Pattern Description: Semi-fitted, unlined coat (wrong side shows) has front extending into collar, flat-fell seams, narrow hem, and shaped front hemline longer than back.
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size 8-16 and I cut a size 12.
Fabric Used: Camel Light Wool Suiting (HERE)
Did it look like the photo on the pattern envelope once you are done sewing with it? Yes it looks exactly like the photo.
Were the instructions easy to follow? To be honest, the instruction were not hard but they were a bit tricky. I had to use the sew along blog post HERE to help me understand the instructions better.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I don't like there is a lot of flat-fell stitches in the construction. I found it kinda tedious to do but once I got a hang of it, it wasn't that bad.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? None, I cut it straight out of the envelope and made it.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes I would love to sew it again in a bold colored fabric and I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a fast and easy jacket to make.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!
I am seriously in awe of your talent. This jacket is beautiful and it fits you like a glove. You wear it well <3 I especially like that you wore it with those leopard print heels.
