How are you all doing? I hope you all had a wonderful week, mine was quite busy with work but I am so glad the weekend is finally here. I plan on just relaxing and maybe catching up on some sewing projects this weekend. Since Valentine's day is this weekend, I wanted to share a val's day inspired look. Instead of rocking the typical red color for Valentine's day, why not try another bold color like this bright pink color. I actually made this maxi evening dress for a birthday banquet I attended last Summer and I never shared it on the blog. So for this look that is perfect for dinner with Bae, I paired the dress with a statement necklace and black accessories. What you guys think of this different color palette for Valentine's day? P.S: For those that sew, I have a pattern review below...:)
Pattern Review: Simplicity 1420
Pattern Description: misses' day or evening dress can be made with two figure flattering bodices. dresses can be made long or short with princess seam bodice and square neck or faux wrap v neck bodice. both have asymmetric cinch at waist.
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size 6-14 and I cut a size 14
Fabric Used: Joann's Satin Taffeta Fabric (HERE)
Did it look like the photo on the pattern envelope once you are done sewing with it? Yes. just in a different color palette.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, super easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love every single detail of the pattern except for the pleated waistline, to me it looks dated (old-fashioned) that why I added a belt to cover it up.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? I don't think I made any alterations or design changes, I honestly can't remember.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes! I would definitely make it again, I love the side pleats on the skirt part. Yes, I would recommend it.
Here is how I rocked it last Summer to a Birthday Banquet...:)
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed weekend!

  1. This is beautiful and you look so pretty in it. I can't believe you have only been sewing since 2014.
