How are you all doing? I hope you are having a wonderful week so far. Mine has been pretty chill but I am currently doing a sewing marathon for my 1st solo vacation coming up in 3 weeks. Since I will be starting school back full time in 2 months, I just wanted to take some time off for myself and get away from everything to enjoy 2 weeks out of the country. I cannot wait to share my outfits and vacation with you all. On to this DIY look, I made this bell sleeves wiggle dress with gold butterflies printed fabric about a month ago to attend a wedding ceremony and I love it so much that I wore it to church again this past Sunday. The mint of the fabric is a perfect pastel color for the spring/summer season. I simply paired the dress with gold accessories to compliment the gold print on the fabric. For those that sew, I have a pattern review below...:)
Pattern Review: McCalls 5927 (Out-of-Print)
Pattern Description: Above or below mid-knee length dresses A, B, C, D, E have fitted bodice, sleeveless or sleeve length variations, waist seam, tucked skirt, side slant pockets, back zipper and hemline slit.
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size (14-20) and I cut a size 14.
Fabric Used: Keepsake Calico Cotton Fabric (HERE)
Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn't follow the instructions, but I read through it and it looked easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the variations the pattern offers and it's also very easy to modify.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? I made a lot of changes with this pattern including shortening the bodice by about 3 inches, lengthening the skirt part by 4 inches and tapering the shape as well. I did pleats instead of tucks as per the pattern instructions. I also shortened the sleeves and added bell sleeves by using 30x10inches fabric which I gathered to create the bell sleeves.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes & Yes! I am obsessed with the wiggle silhouette and bell sleeves.
This hairstyle is the best protective style I have done since I became natural, it's going on 6 weeks now and I still love it. Too bad I gotta take it out soon...:(
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed day!
