How was your weekend? Mine was pretty relaxing but I wish I had got more sewing done. Today's post features a full outfit made by me! I have had this gorgeous neoprene neon fabric since last summer and I have been looking for what to sew with it. Once Vogue patterns released v1486 I knew I had to make it with the neoprene fabric. I love the result and the structure the fabric gave the skirt. The top was kinda a last minute make when I realized that the neon color in the print matches the skirt fabric. Since the colors were so bold, I simply paired the outfit with a neutral caged sandals from Schutz. What do you guys think of this DIY outfit?
For those that sew, I have a pattern review below...:)
Pattern Review: Vogue 1486
Pattern Description: Skirt has lined waistband, side pockets, and pleated lower front and back with exposed zipper.
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size 6-14 and I cut a size 14.
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size 6-14 and I cut a size 14.
Fabric Used: Mood Double-Faced Neoprene/Scuba Fabric HERE
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes the instructions were super easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the unique style of the skirt, it matches my style perfectly. There is nothing to dislike about the pattern but when I was sewing it I struggled a bit because of my fabric choice. Neoprene is not the easiest to work with, it's very thick and kinda stretchy but once I figured it out and used the right needle it was a breeze after that.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? None, except for leaving the hem unfinished since the neoprene fabric doesn't fray and it looks neater leaving the hem unfinished.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes & Yes, because it's such a unique pattern like a cross between a A-line and a full midi skirt.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!
i just love how you use bright colours.. amazing!!! what needle size do you suggest to use for scuba fabric.?
ReplyDeleteThanks dear! I used a 100/16 ballpoint needle.
Deleteabsolutely amazing girl! love all of the bright colors in this and your skills are fabulous! How much would you charge for a full midi skirt in neoprene/scuba fabric (heather grey)?

Great job! I have this pattern but haven't cut it yet. I'm so inspired by your project. Neoprene is an excellent choice for this pattern.
