How are you all doing? I hope everyone is enjoying these last couple of weeks of summer. I wish I was instead of hitting the books all the time...lol. Anyways it's finally time to share my last vacation style from London. I have had this butterfly printed fabric for over a year and I had been saving it to make a special dress. I decided last minute to make a fancy dress just incase I had an event to attend, I literally cut it out a day before my trip and made it overnight. I love the fit and style of the dress. I actually wore it to a wedding but it can be worn to basically any dressy event. For the occasion, I kept the styling simple by pairing it with a thin gold belt and my favorite black bow flats. What do you guys think of this dress?
P.S: For those that sew, I have a pattern review below...:)
Pattern Review: Butterick 5601
Pattern Description: Close-fitting, straight, above mid-knee dresses have lined yoke, bodice and back zipper. Back self-fabric loop and button at neck.
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size 14-20 and I cut a size 16
Fabric Used: Calico Funky Florals Butterfly Cotton Fabric (old)
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, super easy
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I really love the cut-out back design versatility. I can't wait to make the view B.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? I actually made some design changes. I only used the bodice part of the pattern and I self-drafted the pleated skirt portion and the frill sleeves as well. I also shorted the sleeve opening by about an inch to accommodate the inserted frill sleeves.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes & Yes!
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed week ahead!
