Colourpop "Lax" Ultra Matte Lipstick (HERE)

How are you all doing? If you have noticed, all the posts I have shared this month have all been things that I made...Yay! So continuing with the DIY posts, I am ending the month with my latest sewing project: a velvet swing dress. Velvet pieces are definitely a must-have this season. I still remember my last velvet dress that my dad got for me over 10 years ago, it was a black velvet dress with pleated plaid flounce. I literally wore that dress to death because it was very comfortable and I felt so warm and cozy anytime I wore it. Now fast forward to 2016, the velvet fabric is back in circulation. As soon as I discovered that velvet was back on trend, I knew I wanted to make something with the fabric. I selected this stretch velvet fabric to make a dress. During my research on sewing with velvet, I learned that velvets are not easiest fabric to work with but I was still up for the challenge. I decided to make a simple silhouette with the fabric. First of all it was really hard to cut since the fabric is such a slinky one. I would advise to cut on a single layer. I managed to cut the fabric and then I had decide on what sewing machine needle to use with. I tried using a stretch/ballpoint needle with a scrap fabric and it didn't work out, then I tried a microtex needle and that worked out much better.  It was still a challenge to sew and I had to take my time sewing and making sure the fabric wasn't shifting much as I made the dress. I am really happy with the result of the dress but I doubt I would make anything in velvet again. I love the hunter green color of the dress and I think it's will be perfect for the upcoming holiday season. I simple styled the dress with a OTK boots courtesy of Justfab. Pattern Review: New Look 6469

Pattern Description: Misses' knit dresses with raglan sleeve can be mini length with round neckline and contrast sleeves, or high neck in one fabric, above the knee with long sleeves, and high-low with high neckline and half sleeves.

Pattern Sizing: It came in a size 8-20 and I cut a size 14.

Fabric Used: Stretch Velvet Knit.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, super easy.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I really love the swing style of the dress.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? None, I made it straight out of the envelope with no adjustments.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes &Yes! I already plan on making another one in a black scuba knit fabric. I love the pattern and it's definitely going to be on my TNT patterns list. I am so looking forward to making more of it.
