How are you all doing? I hope you all are having a wonderful day! Since today is 4th of July, I joined a sewing challenge on Instagram to create a dress that is inspired by the colors of the US flag or any other country's flag. Check out the hashtag #4FourthofJulyProudDressProject and #FlagsoftheWorldDressProject to see everyone's dresses. I have lived in the US for almost 10 years now so it's only befitting that I use colors of the flag. I used a subtle red and white stripes to create the look and I really loved the way it turned out. I styled it with a pair of gingham pumps that has cute bow details to add some mixed prints elements. P.S: for those that sew, I have a pattern review below...:)
Pattern Review: Itch to Stitch "Beausoleil" Dress PDF Pattern
Pattern Description: Dress & Top has different cup sizes options, cold shoulder sleeves with cuff, scoop neckline, and A-line Skirt with patch pockets.
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size 00-20 and I cut a size 10 C cup based on the finished garment measurements.
Fabric Used: Italian Red/White Striped Cotton Woven from Mood Fabrics HERE
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes super, easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love every single detail about this dress, from the cold shoulder with cuff to the A-line skirts. I don't the way that the bodice is kinda long, will do some modifications when I make it again.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? The only change I made was to use invisible zipper instead of the lapped zipper recommended by the pattern. Next time I will shorten the bodice by about 2 inches to accommodate my short torso because I don't like the bodice length on me.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes & Yes! I will definitely make another when I get the chance. I would definitely recommend it if you want to try the cold shoulder trend.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
Super cute!
