How are you all doing? I hope you had a lovely week. I am sorry I was MIA this past 2 weeks, school just got a bit tense and I had to take a step back and focus completely on it. We started our pharmacotherapy modules and it's a total different way of learning (think case-based and real life situations application of pharmacy practice), so I had to readjust my studying habits and learning style to accommodate this. Thank God it worked because I did way better than I thought I would on my exam yesterday. As someone who always doubts herself, I had a boost of confidence after seeing my result and I am more determined to keep working hard towards a career as a future Pharmacist.
On to today's blog post, one of my friends/roommate got married last month and I made this outfit for the wedding. I am the kind of person that buys fabrics without having a clue what to make with therefore I have a pretty big stash. While looking through my fabric stash for what to make, I found this yummy light weight floral print scuba fabric that I got on my vacation in London last summer. I only got 4meters of it so I was able to cut out this dress and have enough left to cut out a top as well. For the wedding, I styled the dress with a pair of blush pom pom block sandals that matched the colors of the flowers on the dress. I have a pattern review with modifications I made while sewing this dress below...:)
P.S: I actually thought about not posting this pictures because I felt like it really showed that I have gained some weight and I am so self-conscious about it. I decided to post it because I wanted share the beautiful dress. However, looking at this pictures last month made me re-evaluate my lifestyle and eating habits. In the past month, I have made some changes to my lifestyle in terms of eating more healthy and working out. If you following me on Instagram (@rallydfashionfanatic) on my instastores, I share my meal prepping every Friday/Saturday. I will do a more detailed post on this when I am closer to my goal. Until then, wish me luck on this new journey.
Pattern Review: New Look 6495
Pattern Description: Misses dress features yoke and various dress lengths. Can be made in sleeveless or cold shoulder detail.
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size 8-20 and I made a size 16.
Fabric Used: Scuba knit fabric from Rolls & Rems
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes super easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I really love the yoke detail plus it have different sleeves and lengths options.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? I actually made a few changes to this pattern. I first tapered the skirt portion for a more fitted look. I also added sleeves from another knit dress pattern and drafted a scalloped hem to add a cool detail to the dress. Finally I drafted a detachable pleated peplum to go with the dress.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would definitely recommend it for if you want a simple knit dress but I doubt I would make this again.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

  3. I love this - especially the peplum and scallop hem! Do you happen to remember which pattern you used for the sleeves? I think that alone makes the pattern so different and would love to copy you :-)
