How are you all doing! I am so glad to be finally back home for the holidays, and eager to finish up my holiday sewing. If you follow me on my instagram (@rallydfashionfanatic) then you probably know that about 5 months ago, I began a new lifestyle change in terms of my eating/exercising habits. I share my exercise routine and where I get healthy recipes on my Instastories. I remember taking pictures for the blog in July (see post HERE) and I absolutely hated the way I looked, I was so uncomfortable in the way I looked that I didn't want to share the pictures. At that point, I decided to change my lifestyle by incorporating healthy eating habit (i.e meal prepping) and exercising more frequently (I joined the gym). I will share more details about this new journey once I am closer to my goal. But I just wanted to encourage anyone who wants to change their lifestyle, Start now! Don't wait the new year to start making unrealistic resolutions, Make a change now! If you any questions or need encouragement, feel free to contact me via email or DM me on Instagram.
Anyways, today's DIY post features one of my favorite styles to wear: Bodysuits! I discovered them about 3 years ago and I have been loving them since then. I don't like when I tuck in my tops and I have to keep adjusting them due to bulges, the perfect solution is a bodysuit. The fact that I can now make my own bodysuits is a winner in my books. Ever since Simplicity released this pattern, I have made 3 different versions of it and will be sharing in upcoming posts. I made this one in a leopard print scuba knit and I love that I can pair it with different bottoms. For this look, I styled the bodysuit with a pair of bold pink pants and completed the look with black pumps. I have a pattern review for those that sew below...:)
Pattern Review: Simplicity 8513
Pattern Description: Bodysuits with a mock neck, crew neckline, or a deep V-neck. Mock neck bodysuit has the option of being long sleeve or short sleeve with cold shoulders. Crew neckline bodysuit can be made with long bell sleeves. Deep V-neck bodysuit can be made with a wrap front or with a lace-up front
Pattern Sizing: It came in a size XS-XL, and I made view B in a size M.
Fabric Used: Printed Scuba knit fabric, HERE
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, super easy! Plus Brittany J Jones made video tutorials for each view, check it out on her YouTube channel.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I absolutely love the bodysuit style, I had been looking for the perfect pattern and this is it! I also love the style options the pattern offers.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made? I didn't make any for the 1st one, but I lengthened the waist by 1 inch for my second one. I also think the fit depends on the type of knit fabric you use. For the ones I made with a scuba knit, it fits a bit more fitted since the fabric is more structured. I made another version in a rib knit fabric and the fit is more loose compared to the scuba knit ones.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes & Yes, so far I have made 3 (2 scuba knits and 1 rib knit) of these bodysuits and plan on making more for the Spring/Summer season. I would definitely recommend if you are looking to make a bodysuit.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed day!
