My DIY: Multicolored Stripes Pleated Dress + Butterick 6556 Pattern Review

Happy Thursday Lovelies!
Multicolored Stripes Pleated Dress (I made)
Fabric: Mood Fabrics & Pattern: Butterick 6556
Schutz "Jaden" Caged Sandals (from 2 years ago)
How are you all doing? Today's post features one of the first of many summer dresses I plan on making this season. I had to give away my dresses that no longer fit me due to my weight loss, it was such a bittersweet moment because most the ones I got rid off were pieces I handmade myself. My goal is to bust through my fabric stash and make as many dresses as I can in the next coming months.
For this dress, I used this colorful stripes cotton woven I got from Mood fabrics last year. I went with the pattern Butterick 6556 to create the dress, it's a simple close fitting dress pattern with a lined bodice, pleated skirt and pockets detail. I cut a size 14 and the only modification I made was to raise the neckline a bit higher by sewing the shoulder seams using 1" instead of 5/8". I also joined the lining to the main fabric around the neckline using 1/2' instead of 5/8"
I played with the placement of the fabric by cutting the bodice of the dress vertically on the stripes, I cut the sleeves and skirt on the horizontally. I absolutely love the way the dress turned out. It fits so perfectly and I know it will get a lot of wear during this spring/summer season.
I simply styled the dress with a pair of brown/nude sandals to complete the look.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed rest of the week!
