Pattern: Simplicity 8642
Justfab Ankle Grazer Jeans with Bow detail (HERE)
Katy Perry Cherry "Geli" Sandals (HERE)
How are you all doing? I am taking a break from my DIY vacation style posts to share this month's Sewyourview project. I made a gingham top and paired it with a pair of jeans and quirky jelly sandals.
I must admit I wasn't into the gingham print till I saw the talented Emily Hallman's amazing use of the print. Now I am obsessed with it, it's such a classic yet versatile print. I actually found this cotton blend one in my stash, I was able to squeeze out this top and a skirt you will be seeing in an upcoming post. Seriously don't be surprised if you start seeing me rock more gingham on this blog..:)
I made Simplicity 8642 view B, and I cut a size 14. The pattern was described as "easy-to-sew shell tops have beautiful sleeve options and details as well as bust darts." I gravitated towards view B because I thought the pleated sleeve detail was really cool. I love the way it turned out even though it's a bit loose especially at the hemline. It was a relatively easy pattern to sew and this pleated version has a lot of markings, so I would advise to take the time to trace the markings. I didn't make any modifications or design changes. I know I would be sewing up the other views later because I really like the easy breezy factor of this top plus it's so perfect for hot summer days.
Whenever I like something, I am so guilty of getting different versions of it. This cherry one is version 2 of the Katy Perry Collection "Geli" sandals. Don't be surprised if you see more fruity versions in upcoming posts...:)
What's better than bow details on a pair jeans, love the girly vibe it adds to it.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!
