Katy Perry Lemon "Geli" Sandals (HERE)
How is your week going so far? Mine is going great, I just completed my 2nd rotation block and moving on to the next one. Today's post features a fun casual maxi dress I made some weeks back. If you don't know by now, I love making dresses so it has been awesome gradually building up the dress collection in my closet.
I was actually inspired to make this dress after seeing Tabitha Sewer's tiered version HERE with McCalls 7626. That pattern is so amazing and can be modified to make different versions of nice dresses, tops and even a jumpsuit. I only had about 3.5 yards of this vlisco fabric from about 3 years ago so I opted to make a gathered maxi version.
I cut a size 14 for the bodice and the fit is so perfect without any fit adjustments. I only used the bodice of the pattern and gathered the rest of the fabric to make this dress. I made the tie straps by cutting (4) 22"length by 5"width pieces and sewing them on a fold. I really like the casual yet dressy vibe of it plus the use of the ankara fabric adds an extra oomph to the dress. This might as well be my favorite make of this summer so far, even my momma wants a version of it...lol
I told you all I was obsessed with this Katy Perry Collection "Geli" sandals, this lemon version is probably my favorite pair...:)
P.S: I cannot remember the last time I wore something sleeveless on the blog, OMG my arms are definitely my biggest insecurity. I don't know I just personally feel like you can easily tell whenever I have excess weight by looking at my arms. But you know your girl has been on this healthy lifestyle journey for the past one year...Woot Woot! And my arms are looking much better than they used to be, I am much more comfortable showing them off nowadays.
Back to this pattern, I think it's defintly going to be a staple/TNT pattern especially for the summer season. I plan on making a top version before it gets much cooler.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed day
