My DIY Dress Series #4: The Fun Mixed Prints Ankara Dress + McCalls 7783

Happy Saturday Lovelies!

Mixed Prints Ankara Fringe Pencil Dress (I made)
Fabric: Star Print Ankara HERE, Polka Dots from Dubai
Justfab Yellow Sandals (old)
Long time, no posts! I have definitely been a bad blogger these past couple of weeks. I just got a bit overwhelmed with rotations and personal stuff which allowed blogging to take a backseat for a moment. But I am back now, and unfortunately I still have a few summer DIY dress to share before we can move on to fall sewing. Today's post features a dress I made for a party about 6 weeks ago. This is dress #4 from my dress series, I still have my LBD one to share next and will continue the series next spring.
I used a top pattern McCalls 7783 as the base pattern, I have actually made the pattern earlier in the summer HERE. This time around I made view C and I cut a size 14 with some adjustments. I have actually lost some inches since I made it earlier, so I had to take in about 1 inch of the side seams. I drafted a pencil skirt for the lower portion and added a black fringe trim I got from eBay.
I decided to play with prints by using bold colored printed ankara fabrics in stars and polka dots prints. I actually got the star print first online here in the US and got the polka dots one at the Deira market in Dubai. I love the pairing of the 2 prints with the style of the dress.
I simply styled the dress with a bold yellow single strap sandals from Justfab.
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a blessed day!
